Michael Owen has shared his thoughts on the Premier League relegation battle involving Leeds United after Sean Dyche’s Everton snatched a late draw at Wolves on Saturday.

In the most dramatic of all dramatic fashions, Everton, through Yerry Mina, scored a possibly division-saving 99th-minute equaliser at Molineux.

It now means that Leeds United, who travel to West Ham United on Sunday, have to win to keep their Premier League survival hopes in their hands and Owen stated that he would ‘far prefer’ to be in the position of Sean Dyche’s side, as he told MatchDay Extra on PL Productions (20/05/23 at 8:55 pm).

If Sam Allardyce, who is the third man in the Elland Road dugout this season, can help the Whites survive, then winning at the London Stadium is a must.

If that happens, then regardless of what Everton do on the final day, or what Leicester put up, then avoiding relegation will be in the hands of Leeds against Tottenham Hotspur.

But, for Owen, he prefers having the points on the board, which Everton now have on the board.

On Leeds having to possibly win their remaining two games to survive: “Absolutely, which is possible. They aren’t impossible fixtures.

“I just think points on the board, at this time, and Bournemouth at home. They have got nothing to play for now. I would far prefer to be in Everton’s shoes than anybody else’s, at the moment.”

PREMIER LEAGUE RELEGATION BATTLE HEADING TO FINAL DAY

Regardless of what Leeds do in the capital, for the second season running, they will head to the final day of the season needing to survive.

That’s pretty pathetic for those running the club’s ship because they are showing time and time again that they aren’t fit enough to be sitting in such positions of power.

Nottingham Forest have stayed up, after beating Arsenal on Saturday night, they are now breathing a sigh of relief, who will be breathing easy in one week’s time from Leicester, Leeds and Everton?
