Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham would have been tough watching for the 49ers Enterprises, and they now look ready to take Leeds United off Andrea Radrizzani as soon as possible.

Sam Allardyce’s side plunged into yet more relegation jeopardy as they were comfortably beaten 3-1 by the Hammers at the London Stadium (21 May), to leave the club two points away from safety heading into the last game of the Premier League season.

And with Big Sam and his players looking like beaten men on the pitch, it seems like the 49ers have finally seen enough and are ready to take on this mess themselves.

Phil Hay shared on Monday (22 May) that talks between Radrizzani and the 49ers have intensified over recent weeks at Elland Road and that the latter are keen to take majority control of Leeds United even if they are relegated to the Championship.

The talks have reportedly been centred around the makeup of the boardroom if the West Yorkshire club were to be playing in the second tier next season.

The supposed acceleration of talks behind the scenes comes as no surprise at this point and hopefully will ensure Radrizzani no longer has control over proceedings at Elland Road.

While the Italian has done a lot of good for Leeds – more good than anyone in the boardroom has managed in a very long time – it is time for him to go.

Thankfully for the Leeds fanbase, the 49ers are ready to follow through with their takeover plans regardless of Premier League status, and this could therefore allow the club to turn over a new leaf next season.

Radrizzani has taken the Whites as far as he can, and with the 49ers expressing their wishes to complete the takeover, it now feels like a matter of when, not if, the controls will be handed over.

It has been a long time coming, but substantial change looks like it is finally appearing on the horizon.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that an international player at Elland Road has no place at the club next season and a summer transfer is on the cards.
