Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou remains adamant he will not be “distracted” by the rampant speculation surrounding his future amid recent links to Tottenham Hotspur.

A report by UK outlet The Independentclaimed Postecoglou is now the “primary candidate” for the Spurs gig after the club’s previous top choice Arne Slot elected to stay at Feyenoord.

Postecoglou is in the mix for the role along with the likes of Sporting manger Ruben Amorim and Luis Enrique, although the Spaniard’s chances of taking over have lowered in recent days.

However, the Hoops boss refused to entertain the rumours and remains fully focused on his side’s quest for the treble.

“I’m aware of it (the speculation) because everyone keeps asking me about it,” Postecoglou said.

“It’s happened in the past, I have been pretty clear it’s just not the way I think and work.

“My priority right now is just making sure we have a special day on Saturday and we have a cup final coming up in a week’s time.

“I’m not going to sit there and get distracted by things that are kind of fascinating for other people rather than myself.

“That’s where my focus is and where it will continue to be. We have had a fantastic season and we have an opportunity to make it a really special one.”

The Spurs role is the latest Premier League vacancy Postecoglou has been linked with this season, with the Aussie mentioned in the conversation for openings at Leeds, Wolves, Everton and Brighton.

Interest from down south will no doubt continue should Postecoglou and Celtic remain on their trajectory as the Australian is just one game away from leading the Hoops to a domestic treble.

With the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish League Cup already secured, Postecoglou hopes to secure the Scottish FA Cup with a victory over second-tier Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the final on June 4.
