Sheffield Wednesday receive double injury boost for huge play-off final against Barnsley

Sheffield Wednesday will have both Marvin Johnson and Dominic Iorfa available for their crucial play-off final game against Barnsley.

Concerns were raised about the Owls’ combination after they were both replaced due to injuries during the semifinal victory against Peterborough United, and Johnson was noticed acting a little uneasy during the post-match celebrations.

Prior to their journey to Wembley, Darren Moore provided an upbeat update on both players, stating that they had both trained this week and are “fine” for the match against the Reds on Monday.

Johnson and Iorfa both played major roles in the victory v Peterborough and have featured heavily this season – so neither would want to miss the biggest game of the campaign as they gun for a return to the Championship.

“They’re both fine and ready,” Moore told The Star. “With the game being on the Monday it’s given them enough time to get them back into training and for the medical departme”t to get them back in. So it’s great to have them back…

“It’s been great to have the extra time, it’s given players time to recover after getting little knocks and bruises, and mentally now I would think that any bumps and bruises have been forgotten. Especially with the anticipation of wanting to play on Monday and getting out and expressing their talents in that arena.”

Moore likewise wouldn’t rule out the possibility that well-liked midfielder George Byers would rejoin the lineup for the game the following week, adding that supporters would “have to see” whether he was involved or not.
