Alex Crook shares ‘busy’ transfer update amid West Ham United David Moyes sack decision
talkSPORT chief football correspondent Alex Crook has revealed West Ham United’s transfer plans ahead of the summer window.
Sky Sports correspondent Dharmesh Sheth revealed (via Twitter, 10 June) that Moyes is expected to remain as the Hammers’ boss next season.
Crook has since claimed (via Twitter, 10 June) that the board are planning a “busy” summer of transfer activity, with Fulham’s Joao Palinha linked with a move to the London Stadium.
Vindicated
The decision to stick by Moyes has been vindicated. There were numerous times over the course of the 2022/23 season when his position at the club was under serious threat. However, when looking at the clubs who have been relegated – keeping hold of Moyes was an extremely smart call.
Leeds and Southampton had six managers between them and Leicester also sacked Brenden Rodgers.
Yes, the football may have been poor at times, but Moyes has given Hammers fans the best night of their lives. He deserves the chance to steer West Ham to a more respectable league position next season.
The Irons have to be back competing within the top ten next season. The likes of Brighton, Fulham, Brentford and Aston Villa are who West Ham should be looking to match, particularly after their impressive league finishes in recent years.
Moyes must be backed in the summer and after Crook’s latest update, it appears the Hammers will be extremely active.
