Sky Sports has issued a big West Ham United transfer update on quintet as the official opening of the summer window edges ever closer.
We are now just two days away from the summer transfer window opening this week and it promises to be another very busy one for West Ham.
Having qualified for the Europa League again following the thrilling Conference League triumph last week, West Ham need to ensure they have a quality and deep squad.
With a number of players on the way out and the impending sale of Declan Rice, boss David Moyes faces another rebuild of sorts.
The Hammers need to address several key positions in the team and squad.
‘Work going on behind the scenes’ Sky Sports issue big West Ham transfer update on quintet
And ‘work is going on behind the scenes’ to do just that according to latest reports.
Sky Sports has issued a big West Ham transfer update on quintet as the window rumour mill starts to whirr into life.
The outlet has provided updates on potential West Ham transfers involving Rice, Harvey Barnes, Joao Palhinha, Edson Alvarez and Gianluca Scamacca.
Sky Sports claims early indications suggest there is a gap in valuation between Arsenal and West Ham for Rice.
And the report claims Arsenal have other targets if a deal cannot be agreed.
Is Gunners threat brinkmanship?
“West Ham are thought to want more than £100m for Rice, though any potential move could be helped if Rice gives an indication that Arsenal would be his preferred destination,” the report states.
“If a deal can be struck, personal terms are not expected to be a problem.”
It is also reported that Roma remain interested in Gianluca Scamacca. That’s after a claim about their hopes of signing the Italian was rejected by a reporter close to West Ham co-owner David Sullivan over the weekend.
Sky has also reaffirmed that West Ham DO want Leicester City’s exciting and powerful attacker Barnes.
‘Moyes wants numbers in attack – believes Europa League is a lure’
“Boss David Moyes wants to add competition and numbers in the attacking areas and is hopeful the lure of Europa League football next season will encourage players to join,” the report adds.
To that end it is also reported once again that West Ham are eyeing a move for Fulham ace Palhinha and Ajax star Alvarez.
Sky claims its sources have revealed West Ham are working behind the scenes on signing one of the central midfielders as a replacement for Rice.
“West Ham are working behind the scenes on potential midfield targets if – as expected – Declan Rice leaves the club,” the report adds.
“Sky Sports News has been told one of the primary targets is Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha… West Ham also thought to be looking at Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez.”
Strap yourselves in West Ham fans, it seems like it’s going to be another jam-packed window.
