Crystal Palace eye Torino defender Perr Schuurs as replacement for Tottenham Hotspur target Marc Guehi

Torino defender Perr Schuurs is being eyed by Crystal Palace as a replacement for Tottenham Hotspur target Marc Guehi, according to the Daily Mail.

The Eagles have stepped up their interest in the Holland national this summer. As things stand, Newcastle United and Serie A champions Napoli also have the 23-year-old on their radar.

Palace want to acquire Schuurs services amidst concerns over Guehi’s future. The England international is a target for Spurs in the ongoing transfer window. Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool also want the 22-year-old.

Crystal Palace want Perr Schuurs to replace Tottenham Hotspur target Marc Guehi.

It remains to be seen whether the Holland national will make his way to the Selhurst Park side. Prior to his stint in Italy, the 23-year-old played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax Amsterdam. In Turin, the defender has caught a lot of people’s attention in his debut season.

As for Guehi, he has been brilliant for Palace since signing from Chelsea. The English national made his way through the youth ranks at the Stamford Bridge side. But in the summer of 2021, the Eagles got a hold of the centre-back’s signature.

In the previous two campaigns, the 22-year-old has gone from strength to strength. The defender was key as Roy Hodson helped the Selhurst Park side avoid relegation from the English top flight.

Tottenham’s backline was all over the place last season. Antonio Conte is known for bringing defensive stability to his teams. However, the Italian was unable to achieve that at the North London side.

Spurs relied on the likes of Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Ben Davis and Clement Lenglet at the back. Unfortunately, all of them had topsy-turvy campaigns at the Lilywhites.

Guehi is an up-and-coming star who has showcased immense potential in the PL. The English national’s leadership qualities are evident, having been handed the captain’s armband at Palace. Hopefully, with the Eagles looking to sign Shuurs, the door will open for the 22-year-old’s move to the N17 this summer.

Charles Watts has expressed how he would love Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to sign new England star and Crystal Palace playmaker, Eberechi Eze.

But the Arsenal transfer expert added that the Premier League title contenders ‘aren’t pushing’ to sign the ball-carrying expert from Crystal Palace.

On Friday, Eberechi Eze made his England debut, which is an amazing turnaround for a player that started his career at Arsenal, before being released as a teenager, with Watts adding that he is now an ‘absolutely fabulous player’, as he told his own YouTube channel.

There is talk that the Gunners want to add Kai Havertz to their ranks this summer, it’s a possible deal that’s dividing opinion.

But surely Havertz doesn’t come in to play as a number nine, but in a deeper role, if that’s the case, you are better off signing a player of Eze’s ilk, who is better on the ball and would probably be cheaper in the transfer market.

That’s what Football.London journalist Watts made of it all, as he shared how Eze was released by the Gunners ‘just like Harry Kane’ when he was younger.

“What a talent and what a player,” said Watts. “I would have no qualms if Arsenal were in for Eze. I don’t think that is the case, at all, this summer.

“He is an absolutely fabulous player. He started his career at Arsenal. He was an Arsenal player. Arsenal was his first club and then he was released as a 13-year-old. Then went to Reading, Millwall, and he got released by Millwall as well when he was just 18.

“He had to fight his way up the hard way and take a lot of rejections in the past, including one from Arsenal. Now he has been brilliant and made his England debut, which is fantastic for him. Huge talent. He has been great at Crystal Palace, him and Michael Olise are two fantastic players and they are doing great for Palace.

“He should be a good target. I don’t mind at all with Arsenal being linked with Eze or really pushing for him. I don’t think it’s happening. He was an Arsenal player. He was there, just like Harry Kane.”

Eze would be amazing under Arteta

The Crystal Palace playmaker has the quality to play across the front three and even has the skill set to play a deeper number eight role, which he has done for Palace, on occasions.

But now that he is an England international, the hype around him is going to grow even further and a place like Arsenal, working under Mikel Arteta, would be brilliant for his career and development.

His versatility would allow him to play more games, plus, he is better than Fabio Vieira, who is seemingly back-up to captain fantastic, Martin Odegaard.
