Millwall sign released Leicester City youngster

Millwall have signed former Leicester City goalkeeper Dillon Addai.

The 18-year-old has been released by the Foxes this summer. He will go straight into the Lions’ U21 squad.

Addai agreed terms on his move last week and had previously trialled with the South Londoners.

Millwall needed to recruit in that department after releasing Ryan Sandford and Jordan Gillmore at the end of the last campaign.

The Lions’ U21 team were recently crowned Professional Development League champions after defeating Sheffield United at The Den.

Relegated Premier League club target Rangers-linked striker – report

Leicester City are reportedly targeting Rangers-linked Blackpool striker Jerry Yates as they look to bounce back from Premier League relegation.

According to Football Insider, the 26-year-old Seasiders hitman is a legitimate Foxes target heading into the next season with the futures of Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho up in the air.

Blackpool v Burnley - Sky Bet Championship

The report claims that it will take £4m for Leicester to sign Jerry Yates, who was the subject of relegation himself with now League One club Blackpool last season.

FI are claiming that a £2.5m bid for the striker has already been lodged, although it doesn’t confirm if this was by Leicester or not, as Jerry Yates weighs up his future.

Leicester after Rangers-linked Jerry Yates?

Rangers have been routinely mentioned alongside Jerry Yates ever since the tenure of Steven Gerrard, with the striker believed to be under long-term consideration at Ibrox.

Most recently, Rangers were said to have scouted Jerry Yates as early ago as April but now the Ibrox club could face competition from Leicester City for his signing.

The Foxes remain an attractive proposition for any players south of the border, the club only seven years ago being crowned Premier League champions under Claudio Ranieri.

It’s been quite a substantial fall from grace in recent seasons, as the club’s expensively assembled squad toiled under the management of seemingly Celtic-bound Brendan Rodgers.

Jerry Yates presents an interesting option for Leicester City given his goalscoring form with Blackpool, the forward netting 14 times in a doomed Championship campaign at Bloomfield Road.

Bristol City v Blackpool - Sky Bet Championship

With striker Jamie Vardy now 36-years-old, perhaps plucking Jerry Yates from the English lower leagues is their way of replacing the Leicester legend but if this is the case then the forward has it all do to prove himself worthy.

As for Rangers, it very much appears like the Glasgow club have turned their attentions elsewhere with the conclusion of one recent transfer surely pulling the curtains on any summer interest.
