Report: Preston’s stance on Jordan Storey revealed amid Sheffield Wednesday interest
Sheffield Wednesday target Jordan Storey is not for sale this summer, according to an emerging report from Lancs Live.
Sheffield Wednesday have been credited with an interest in Preston North End defender Storey, 25, who spent time on loan at Hillsborough during the 2021/22 campaign.
The Englishman featured 21 times in League One fixtures for the Owls, who achieved a top six finish that season, with Storey returning to Preston for the seaosn just gone where he featured in all but two of the Lilywhites’ league fixtures.
But a report from Lancs Live says that Preston North End are ‘not looking to sell Storey this window’. Their report adds that there’s been ‘no approach from Wednesday directly’ with the Owls previously reported to have been keen on a permanent deal for the player.
Storey returned to Preston last summer facing an uncertain future. But he took his chance and became an important player for the Lilywhites who could’ve gone on to secure a spot in the top six, with manager Ryan Lowe labelling Storey as both ‘brilliant’ and ‘fantastic’ last season.
What next for Jordan Storey?
It seems like Storey has another key role to play for Preston next season. Lancs Live’s report suggested that Storey is a key player for Lowe and it’s easy to see why – he made a lot of progression last season and he’s still at a decent age, so Preston look like they have an asset on their books in Storey.
As for Wednesday, they’ll simply have to move on. There’s other players out there and Sheffield Wednesday remains an attractive club to play for despite their off-field issues.
Finding the players will be difficult with no Head of Recruitment and no manager in place, but there’s still plenty of time for the Owls to gear up for next season.
