KRC Genk star Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye is not keen on joining Crystal Palace in what could be a boost to Premier League rivals Burnley.
Only one player in the whole of Europe set up more goals than Mike Tresor in 2022/23; Rayan Philippe of Luxembourg-based outfit FC Swift Hesperange beating the former Willem II talisman to top spot.
Tresor’s staggering tally of 21 in the Belgian Jupiler League – 24 in all competitions – placed him ahead of the like sof Kevin de Bruyne, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann. It should also pave the way for a move to one of the continent’s major leagues for this one-man mass-production assist machine.
Crystal Palace and Burnley like Mike Tresor
Tresor, however, will not rush his next move.
According to Het Laaste Niuews, Crystal Palace have expressed their interest. The 24-year-old schemer is not interested in joining The Eagles, however.
Why, is anyone’s guess. Perhaps Tresor has been put off by the uncertainty surrounding their managerial situation; Roy Hodgson still in limbo following last season’s brief return to Selhurst Park.
Tresor will also be under no illusions that Ebere Eze and Michael Olise will take some shifting. There is also the chance that Wilfried Zaha signs a new deal, thus increasing the competition for a place in the Palace attack.
Het Laaste Nieuws do not explain how Tresor feels about linking up with Vincent Kompany at Burnley, however. The presence of a bonafide Belgian legend should, however, give the Clarets an advantage over the likes of Crystal Palace, Brighton, Brentford and Wolves.
“I have learned that (Kompany) appreciates my qualities,” Tresor said earlier this month. “That is, of course, just nice to hear. His Burnley play according to a certain philosophy that would make me feel good.
“For me, playing style has always been important in choosing a club.”
Since Kompany replaced Sean Dyche at Turf Moor, Burnley have enjoyed great success when recruiting from the Belgian league. Manuel Benson, Anass Zaroury, Vitinho and Josh Cullen shone as the Clarets comfortably claimed the Championship title last term while breaking the 100-point barrier.
