Fabrizio Romano drops five-team transfer update after Yerry Mina exit confirmed

Outgoing Everton defender has not agreed terms with Premier League rivals Fulham, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Colombian is wanted by the Cottagers this summer upon the expiry of his Toffees contract next week, as per journalist Alan Nixon (25 June).

Mina is set to leave Goodison Park after five years at the club, as confirmed by the official Everton website (9 June).

Understand Yerry Mina has not agreed terms with Fulham despite reports – nothing done, race remains open for the centre-back as free agent,” Romano wrote on Twitter.

“Told Besiktas made an official proposal; Lens, Granada and Bologna are also interested.”

Wanted man

Mina is clearly well-liked by various clubs, with a battle for his services seemingly on the cards this summer.

He played a key role in keeping Everton in the top flight last season, despite only really coming into the picture at the very end of the campaign under Sean Dyche.

Mina does have a questionable injury record, but the Toffees have already lost Conor Coady since the end of the season, with the centre-back returning to parent club Wolves.

Youngster Jarrad Branthwaite could play a central part under the manager next time out following his loan spell at PSV, but Dyche will definitely be delving into the transfer market in order to bolster his options at the back.

Mina’s exit seemed very likely for quite some time, but not many people would have been predicting the 28-year-old to stay in England.

He may have the chance to do just that at Fulham, but it remains to be seen where he will be playing his football in the upcoming campaign.

Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets replacement? La Liga side targeting Fulham’s Joao Palhinha – but they may have to pay £90m

  • Barca need replacement for Busquets
  • See Palhinha as promising candidate
  • Fulham slap big price tag on midfielder

WHAT HAPPENED? Barca coach Xavi has made the signing of a new midfielder the top priority for the summer transfer window and Sport reports that Palhinha has emerged as one of the top candidates. They are also monitoring Benfica’s Florentino Luis.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: However, signing Palhinha will be no easy feat for the Camp Nou side. The 27-year-old joined Fulham from Sporting CP last year and his contract runs until 2027. That puts Fulham in control of the situation and The Daily Mail reports they are demanding around £90 million ($114m).

AND WHAT’S MORE: Barca had initially targeted Martin Zubimendi as the man to succeed Busquets, who has left to join Inter Miami. The Real Sociedad star proved too expensive, however, and the club opted against going for Sofyan Amrabat, too. Instead, Palhinha and Luis are considered the players most suited to Barca’s playing style.

WHAT NEXT? Barca may make an offer for Palhinha as they look to strengthen in midfield, but they will have a hard time prying him away from Fulham.
