Nottingham Forest target Nathan Collins set to join another Premier League club
Nottingham Forest are set to miss out on Nathan Collins after the Reds were linked with the Wolves central defender last week. Steve Cooper appears very keen to bolster his rearguard during the summer transfer window but it won’t be with Collins.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Republic of Ireland international is now set for a medical at Brentford. The 22-year-old will cost the Bees £23 million and it would appear as though Thomas Frank is set to get his man.
Forest will perhaps go in search of a younger central defender this summer. Felipe was brilliant at the back end of last season but at 34-years-old, he’s likely to only spend another season at the City Ground.
Elsewhere, Forest have Moussa Niakhate. He will see the 2023/24 campaign as a big one having missed seven months of last season with a serious hamstring injury suffered in the opening exchanges of the season.
Joe Worrall and Scott McKenna remain at Forest too. They improved as the season went on last season and the promotion-winning pair will hope to make an impact next season too.
Now, it would seem as though Collins can be scrubbed off the list at Forest. He was linked with the Reds last week but is now set for a medical with Brentford to become their club-record signing.
Collins only signed for Wolves from Burnley last summer. He made 31 appearances during his maiden campaign at Molineux and they’re now going to cash in.
Forest set to miss out on Collins as Brentford swoop
This one is a bit of a shame. Forest would love to emulate Brentford with some of their deals in recent years and this is another solid piece of business by the Bees.
The only thing that is perhaps telling is the perhaps the price tag. It could be that with Forest having two quality central defenders already, they are unwilling to pay in excess of £20 million for a new one.
Collins looks to now be on his way to Brentford. Forest will have to move on and it will be interesting to see who does bolster their rearguard before the season starts.
