Slowly, but surely, the Hatters hierarchy are tying down those players who did so much in helping the club achieve promotion last season.
The latest to benefit from a new deal, as confirmed by the Official Site being our centre-back, Reece Burke.
Burke, who made 13 Championship appearances last season and a further 4 from the bench, has put pen-to-paper on a new deal that ties him to the club for the foreseeable future.
Last season, Reece was unfortunate to pick up injuries that sidelined him but showed what an asset he can be when, in the Championship Play-Off Final against Coventry, he came on as early as the 4th minute, after Tom Lockyer was carried off on a stretcher, to give an immaculate performance, never putting a foot wrong.
Next season, Reece will be looking to establish himself as one of our first-choice centre-backs, but competition will be tough with Andersen, Osho, Bell and Lockyer also in contention.
With the news about the new contract emerging, the Hatters support have taken to social media expressing their delight:
As for that last post, I’ll second the injury situation and I’m crossing my fingers that Reece’s injury problems are now behind him.

Luton’s Latest Signing Passes The Acid Test
Yesterday, here at Vital Luton Town, we covered the announcement of the Hatters second signing of the summer, Mads Andersen.
Our article – second-new-signing-of-the-summer-announced – welcomed the centre-back to Kenilworth Road, as we prepare for our first season back in English top-flight football.
Mads will be an excellent addition to the squad and having been the Barnsley captain will bring additional leadership qualities to the team.
However, with an array of centre-backs now at his disposal in Osho, Lockyer, Bell, Burke and Andersen, it remains to be seen which of the five are deemed as first choice for the three central defensive positions at the heart of the defence.
Are any of our readers prepared to list their preferred trio at the heart of the defence?
When it comes to new signings, I’ve always believed that the acid test comes from the supporters of the club the player has just left and Mads appears to be more than just well liked by the Barnsley support, as the following social media comments perfectly illustrate:
@MadsJuelAnders1 Good luck skip! You were absolutely class for us. Gonna miss you, but you deserve this massively. 👊🏼

As for the original question I posed earlier in this article, I’ll stick my head above the parapet and go for Andersen, Lockyer and Burke, how about you?
