Aston Villa target Brennan Johnson could cost £50m

Villa face paying up to £50million if they want to prise Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.

Villa boss Unai Emery has made adding a wide forward or winger a priority of the summer window. Leicester’s Harvey Barnes remains under consideration and would be available at a lower fee though he, like Johnson, has several other Premier League admirers.

Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams is another player Villa have considered but the 22-year-old is expected to commit his future to the Basque club for at least another season by signing a new contract.

Manchester United make huge bid that could help Forest land Dean Henderson

Nottingham Forest are now waiting to discover if a Manchester United bid for Andre Onana has been successful in their quest to sign Dean Henderson. The Reds are prioritising the transfer of the 26-year-old who spent last season on loan at the City Ground.

The one-time England international trained with Manchester United yesterday. However, The Athletic have now claimed that Henderson is ready to move to Forest.

This will delight the Forest fan base. Since the end of last season, with Premier League survival secured, the faithful have been keeping everything crossed that Henderson returns on a permanent deal.

The situation with David de Gea has recently thrown a spanner in the works. He’s set to walk away from Old Trafford as a free agent and the Red Devils are prioritising a move for Inter stopper Onana.

Erik ten Hag has identified the goalkeeper as a replacement for De Gea. United have made an opening bid of £38.6 million for the stopper and they will await a response.
