Report: Leeds raid PL club for key senior figure
Leeds United are keen on Brentford technical director Lee Dykes as they continue their search for Victor Orta’s replacement.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who report Leeds have already opened talks with Dykes over a potential move to Elland Road, who has already been considered by Tottenham Hotspur.
Leeds remain on the lookout for a new sporting director following the sacking of Orta in May, with Norwich City’s Stuart Webber also among the most concrete candidates so far.
San Francisco 49ers Enterprises are remaining patient in their pursuit of Orta’s successor and are happy to have their new man in place by October as they conduct a full investigation into Leeds’ football operations.
In the mean time, Leeds brought in former Newcastle and Celtic chief Nick Hammond as an interim football advisor to oversee the Whites’ summer transfer window.
Leeds open talks with Brentford director Dykes
Dykes has now been at Brentford for four years and has helped oversee the most successful period in the club’s history.
The Bees were promoted to the Premier League for the first time in 2021 and have since taken the Premier League by storm, particularly last season, with a ninth placed finish.
Dykes has brought in key signings such as Bryan Mbuemo, Ivan Toney, Ethan Pinnock and many more, with Brentford’s recruitment a huge part of their recent success.
The 39-year-old was also at Bury during their League Two promotion campaign in 2018/19, before then making the switch to Brentford.
Dykes is a hugely well respected figure in the game given his achievements at Brentford, and his arrival would be a huge coup for Leeds.
