Nottingham Forest are now looking to sign ‘superb’ £7 million Wolves player

Nottingham Forest have identified Wolves star Jose Sa as a potential signing this summer.

The Telegraph reported last night that the Reds could make a pursuit of the Portuguese stopper, if they cannot land their priority target Dean Henderson.

David De Gea may have left Manchester United. But the Red Devils are seemingly about to sign Andre Onana, which could see Henderson leave.

Sa is an option for Forest, with it being reported earlier this summer that Wolves would hear offers for the player.

Last term, Sa was some way below the standards he set in his first season at Molineux.

While he did put in some fine performances here and there, he struggled for consistency between the sticks.

Nottingham Forest eye move for Jose Sa

According to The Telegraph, Forest will consider a move for Sa if they cannot land Henderson.

But it is actually stated that Forest will target two goalkeepers this summer.

Interestingly, Sa has actually played under current Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis before – at Olympiacos for three years.

It is stated that initial discussions between Forest and Wolves have already been held.

At the moment at the City Ground, Wayne Hennessey and Ethan Horvath are both injured, which is why Forest are keen to snap up a couple of stoppers.

Forest are flying out to Spain this weekend after their friendly against Notts County. Potentially, Steve Cooper will perhaps want to get Sa signed before the squad heads out.

Wolves must ensure a replacement comes in for Jose Sa before he’s sold

Wolves need to make sure that they get a replacement for Sa before they commit to selling him.

One wonders if Julen Lopetegui will fancy making a move for his former goalkeeper Yassine Bounou at Sevilla. The manager recently praised the Morocco international publicly.

Sa leaving probably wouldn’t upset too many people.

The £7 million ace was superb in his first season, but last term sadly he did struggle.

Lopetegui is thought to want his side to get better at playing from the back and Sa has shown he is not the best with his feet.

He’s a fantastic shot stopper and sweeper though. Former Molineux stopper Carl Ikeme previously described him as ‘superb’. So hopefully Wolves can at least make a profit on the 30-year-old if they do sell.
