The defender was let go by Rovers at the end of last season and spent a couple of weeks with Swindon as he aimed to win a contract under Michael Flynn.

Moore-Taylor played in the Robins’ pre-season friendly matches against Swindon Supermarine and Melksham Town last week, but was not part of the League Two club’s squad on Tuesday night as they opted to name a largely Under-18s-based squad for the clash with Corsham Town.

And on Wednesday, it was revealed that the 29-year-old had agreed terms with his old team following summer discussions with Rovers’ director of football, Allan Steele.

Moore-Taylor was an ever-present member of Forest Green’s League-Two-winning side of 2021/22 but played just 14 times last season as Dale Vince’s club returned immediately to the fourth tier.

Moore-Taylor has 92 Rovers appearances in total and has scored four goals.

Speaking to Forest Green’s media team after re-signing, the centre-back said: “I’m over the moon to re-sign. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind, but being back amongst the lads has been great.

“I’ve spoken to Allan [Steele] a few times – and the way he wants the club to move forward is a really exciting proposition for me.

“There’s no point in dwelling on last season, it’s time for us all to push forward.”

Meanwhile, Rovers’ director of football, Steele, said: “The whole club are extremely excited to see Jordy return to FGR.

“He’s had some amazing experiences with this football club and knows what it takes to drive the team forward. He’s a great leader and a tremendous character.”

Moore-Taylor will face the side he went on trial with early on in the new League Two season as Forest Green host Swindon on Tuesday, August 15.

Town’s only summer signing so far remains goalkeeper Murphy Mahoney on a season-long loan from Championship side, Queens Park Rangers.
