Luton Town Striker Pens New Deal Plus A Leading Question Is Asked
Transfer speculation may have been a little on the scarce side this weekend, but one piece of pleasing news has emerged.
As reported by the Official Site, Elijah Adebayo, like several others this summer, has put pen-to-paper on a contract extension.
As seems to be the norm, no precise details are given as to how long the 25-year-old striker has agreed to remain a Hatter for.
But since agreeing to join the club, from Walsall, Elijah has endeared himself to the Hatters faithful.
His first season with the club saw the tall striker net 17 times, in all competitions.
Last season, that figure dropped to 10, as following the arrival of Carlton Morris, his role in the side was adjusted.
But, if there were any doubts relating to his natural ability, the marvellous assist he provided Jordan Clark with, whereby he skipped down the touch line before supplying the perfect ball for Jordan, showed just how valuable he can be.
Now there’s no doubting that stepping up a division, into the top-flight of English football, will be a tough task for the striker, but his physical presence is sure to upset some of the fancy-dan centre-backs who play in the Premier League.
Following the announcement, the Hatters fans, on social media, were quick to greet the news:
Lionel Messi could block Luton Town from breaking transfer record this summer
Messi’s move to join Inter Miami could have a bizarre knock-on effect for the newly promoted Premier League side
Lionel Messi’s move to join Inter Miami has proved an exciting transfer for football fans around the world. However, Luton Town fans could soon be left ruing the day the World Cup winner made the move to MLS.
Messi has finally been unveiled as the newest high-profile signing in Major League Soccer. The 36-year-old joins David Beckham’s franchise after claiming almost every trophy and individual award available.
While football stars, including his former Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets, are eyeing a move to play alongside the Argentine, players currently at Inter Miami won’t be in a rush to leave. This is where Luton Town comes in.
The Hatters enjoyed incredible success in the Championship and were awarded promotion to the Premier League last season. In a bid to avoid the drop in the upcoming season the club are in need of reinforcements and have been eyeing a move for Miami’s Venezuelan striker Josef Martinez.
At 30-years-old, Martinez still has plenty of years ahead of him and has excelled in MLS. Despite only joining the side in January he has spent the last five years in America, signing for Atlanta United in 2017 following a successful loan spell.
Although being unable to sign a player of Martinez’s quality would be a miss, Luton do have a prolific goal-scorer in their ranks. Last season Carlton Morris finished third in the Championship’s top scorer list with 20 goals and seven assists in 47 games, just under a goal-a-game.
Messi’s move to Inter Miami comes after a two year spell at Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentine joined after almost two decades at Barcelona where he lifted Seven Ballon d’Ors, four Champions League trophies and ten LaLiga titles.
Speaking for the first time after joininig David Beckham’s MLS franchise, Messi said: “I’m very excited to start this next step in my career with Inter Miami and in the United States.
“This is a fantastic opportunity and together we will continue to build this beautiful project. The idea is to work together to achieve the objectives we set, and I’m very eager to start helping here in my new home.
