Crystal Palace in advanced talks to beat West Ham United to sign Perr Schuurs amid £27m+ update

Crystal Palace are in advanced talks to sign Torino defender Perr Schuurs, thus beating West Ham to his signature, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper reported in its print edition on Thursday (20 July) that the Eagles need to pay £34million for his services after having a £27.7m bid rejected

The Daily Star added that the 23-year-old was also in the sights of the Hammers and Premier League giants Liverpool.

“Crystal Palace have been told to cough up £34m for Torino defender Perr Schuurs,” according to the Daily Star (page 43, 20 July). “The Eagles have already had a bid of £27.7m for the 23-year-old Holland international rejected.

“Schuurs was also on West Ham and Liverpool’s radar but a move to Selhurst Park looks more likely with talks at an advanced staged between the clubs.”

The latest Schuurs development comes as a major blow to West Ham and their manager David Moyes, who was seemingly keen to bolster his defensive options with the Torino ace.

Perhaps Palace were simply ahead of the Hammers in the running from the very start, as opposed to the defender opting to make a conscious decision to snub the club for the Eagles.

Moyes will really be hoping it is the latter situation, and that his club are not able to bring in exciting talent after their Premier League struggles last time out.

Given how they secured their safety, and more importantly lifted the Europa Conference League trophy, that really shouldn’t be the case.

Still, this will be disappointing news for the East London club, who definitely have money to spend after the £105million Declan Rice sale, but are running out of time to spend it as the new season rapidly approaches.
