Looking Good: 2 players who would realistically join Hull City soon

2 players who would realistically sign for Hull City in the coming weeks

Hull City are gearing up for Liam Rosenior’s first full season in charge at the MKM Stadium.

Hull City have delved into the transfer market to bring in striker Liam Delap, winger Jason Lokilo and left-back Ruben Vinagre so far this summer.

The Tigers have been linked with more reinforcements over recent times. Here is a look at two reported targets they would realistically sign over the next couple of weeks…

Mark Travers

Hull are in need of another goalkeeper to compete with Matt Ingram for the number one spot in the next campaign following Karl Darlow’s return to Newcastle United. Travers, who is a Republic of Ireland international with three caps under his belt, would fit the bill for the East Yorkshire club.

He remains on Rosenior’s radar at the moment, as detailed in a report by HullLive, and has fallen out of favour with the Cherries in the Premier League. The Dorset outfit snapped him up as a youngster from Shamrock Rovers in 2016 and he has since made 70 appearances for them in all competitions.

The links to the former Liverpool man seem to make sense considering he is currently on the books at Sporting Lisbon, the same club who Hull have recently brought in Vinagre from. It is no secret that the Tigers are keen to bring in more attacking players before the start of the new season and the winger would give the more competition and depth in forward areas.

Portuguese news outlet O’Jogo has claimed Hull want him along with Stoke City, Watford and Norwich City. He has been on the books at Estadio Jose Alvalade since 2019 and has been loaned out to Rio Ave, Belenenses and Aris over recent years.

Hull City head coach highlights two key areas the Tigers must address ahead of new season

The Tigers are gearing up for their season opener at Norwich City on Saturday week

Hull City head coach Liam Rosenior says he’s working hard to get his players into a confident state of mind as the new Championship season quickly approaches.

City struggled for goals last term and though their case was not helped in the final weeks of the season owing to a glut of injury troubles, the Tigers still found it tough to hit the net with regularity and it has been a key area of focus throughout the summer so far.

One player who appeared to struggle with form and confidence last term – looking in from the outside at least – was winger Ryan Longman but after a summer of hard work, the 22-year-old has looked fitter and stronger in recent weeks.

Despite notching 37 appearances in the Championship last term, Longman scored just twice with one assist and you’d have to go all the way back to Rosenior’s first win as City boss at Cardiff in November for the last time he found the net.

Longman’s struggles were highlighted at Huddersfield Town in October when sections of the City away support criticised him forcing caretaker boss at the time Andy Dawson to defend the youngster.

An open goal miss at Grimsby Town earlier this month may have suggested Longman’s confidence remained a tad brittle, but the former Brighton youngster responded brilliantly to put away what proved to be the winning goal later in the game, something the Tigers head coach says is part and parcel of pre-season.

“We’re trying to get the players as confident (as possible), not just Ryan, but all of the players,” Rosenior said. “There’s moments in games where players make good decisions and not such good decisions.

“That’s actually part of pre-season as well, the fitter you get the sharper your mind is to make the right decision. We’re still nowhere near where I want us to be, we’re getting closer to it.

“For players like Ryan and every player in the squad, we work really hard to develop and improve.”
