Seal deal: Plymouth Argyle prospect makes loan move

Plymouth Argyle prospect Oscar Halls makes Plymouth Parkway loan move

Parkway boss Lee Hobbs has called the signing of the 18-year-old Penzance-born defender ‘brilliant business for us’

Patience has finally paid off for Plymouth Parkway manager Lee Hobbs with the signing of 18-year-old Plymouth Argyle defender Oscar Halls on a three-month loan.

Hobbs had been interested in adding Halls to his squad at Bolitho Park since last December and described it as ‘brilliant business for us’.

Halls played the whole of the second half for Argyle against Parkway when they won 2-0 in a recent pre-season match, which gave Hobbs an even clearer picture of his ability.

Argyle first team coach and head of player development Kevin Nancekivell told his club’s official website: “For all of our first-year pros, it is part of their pathway to go out and develop their game.

“Oscar will go there to play regular football at a good level, where we can observe him, and he can continue to train with us every day.

“We wish him success at Parkway, which will enhance his chances of playing in our first team in the near future. We are delighted that he has a chance to further his development.”

Penzance-born Halls goes straight into Parkway’s squad for their pre-season game away to Tavistock at Langsford Park tonight (7.45pm).

Hobbs told Parkway’s official club website: “Oscar is a player I have been trying to get in since back in December and have had to be very patient, so to finally land him that’s brilliant business for us.

“Oscar’s highly thought of at Argyle and played a key part in their run to the Papa Johns Trophy final and I’m really pleased we have been chosen for the next step of his development.

Parkway chairman Mark Russell added: “We are delighted to provide Oscar a platform in his footballing journey and we wish him well during his spell at Bolitho.

“We are extremely proud of the strong relationship with Plymouth Argyle and we thank them for their assistance with Oscar’s loan.”

Parkway will begin their Southern League Premier South campaign away to Hungerford Town on Saturday, August 5, the same day that Argyle play their Championship season-opener against Huddersfield Town at Home Park.
