£50k-a-week player has tried to force a move to Wolves this summer
Aaron Cresswell has reportedly been attempting to push for a transfer to Wolves this summer.
A couple of weeks ago there were reports about interest from Wanderers in the left-back.
But last week, it was claimed that Wolves had failed to reach an agreement with the Hammers.
Presumably, Wolves were unable to match West Ham’s demands, amid the ongoing financial issues at the club.
For now, it seems as though a move won’t be happening.
Aaron Cresswell has pushed for a transfer to Wolves
The Daily Express have reported today about the current ongoings at West Ham.
Like Wolves, the Irons are enduring a frustrating summer on the transfer front.
They have sold Declan Rice to Arsenal, but have been unable to make any incomings so far.
The Express talk about the problems the West Ham hierarchy have been having, and mention Cresswell’s situation.
Apparently, the 33-year-old actually attempted to force through a transfer to Wolves.
But seemingly, the Hammers have not been willing to lower their asking price for the £50,000-a-week player.
Cresswell to Wolves before the window closes should not be ruled out
This is an interesting line about Cresswell and it suggests that the former Ipswich Town man really did want a move to Molineux.
Sky Sports claimed last week that as things currently stand, a move to Molineux for Cresswell is off.
But the update did read as though the situation could potentially change.
This might be a move that happens close to the end of the window.
Perhaps Wolves will sell a couple more players and that will allow them to get closer to the price West ham had set (thought to be around £5 million).
It is at least encouraging that it’s a move Cresswell seemingly does really want. His stance could ultimately bring it to fruition, a bit like how Joao Gomes’ transfer from Flamengo came about earlier this year.
