TRANSFER NEWS: Fulham lost another promising star

OFFICIAL | FULHAM WINGER IVAN CAVALEIRO JOINS LILLE

Fulham FC winger Ivan Cavaleiro (29) has signed for Lille OSC, the French club has announced. The 2-time Portugal international was entering his final year of contract with the Cottagers.

It is currently unclear as to whether or not Lille have paid a fee to the Premier League side for the player. Cavaleiro will numerically replace Jonathan Bamba, who joined La Liga outfit Celta Vigo this summer as a free agent, with Les Dogues. Cavaleiro spent last season on loan at Turkish Süper Lig side Alanyaspor where he registered four goals and five assists in 25 games played. He will wear the #17 shirt with the Paulo Fonseca-led side. Cavaleiro has signed a one-year contract with the option to extend his deal until 2025

Lille OSC were also interested in LASK Japanese winger Keito Nakamura, but the latter is now expected to join Ligue 1 rivals Stade de Reims. Cavaleiro is no stranger to the Ligue 1. He spent the 2015-16 at AS Monaco. With Fulham, the Portuguese logged eleven goals and eight assists in 104 games played with the West London side. Lille will kick off the Ligue 1 season on Friday with an away game at INEOS-owned OGC Nice.

Cavaleiro signs for Lille

Fulham winger Ivan Cavaleiro has completed a permanent move to Lille for an undisclosed fee, the club have confirmed this afternoon.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers wide man scored eleven goals in 104 appearances for the Whites, helping Scott Parker’s side win promotion via the Championship play-offs in 2021. He dropped down the Fulham pecking order once Marco Silva replaced Parker the following summer and spent last season on loan with Turkish team Alanyaspor.
