Brighton primed to make move for Championship star with player apparently keen on PL move

Brighton are ‘preparing to step up their interest’ in Watford midfielder Yaser Asprilla, claims an exclusive report from Last Word on Football.

Asprilla, 19, has been linked with Brighton this month. The Seagulls are apparently keen on the twice-capped Colombian international, who joined Watford from South American side Envigado last year.

He went on to make 37 Championship outings last season – his maiden season at Vicarage Road – thoroughly impressing as he became a key player in the Hornets’ XI.

Reports this week have claimed that Brighton, Newcastle United, Real Sociedad, and Porto are all keen on the player, but now an exclusive report from Last Word on Football has claimed that Brighton are ready to step up their interest in Asprilla.

The same report adds that Brighton are ‘primed to make their move’ and that Asprilla is ‘seemingly ready for a transfer to the Premier League’.

He remains under contract at Watford until 2026.

Asprilla to Brighton

Watford are making a good habit of poaching talented players from South America. Joao Pedro is the first name that springs to mind and the now Brighton man has given the Seagulls reason to go back to Vicarage Road for more new signings.

He looks like a very promising signing for the club and Asprilla could be next – despite his young age and inexperience of English football, he really shone in the Championship last season and it’s no surprise to see this amount of interest in the player.

What Watford’s stance on a potential sale is remains to be seen. Valerien Ismael will no doubt want a replacement should he be sold off and with a few weeks left of the window, a replacement could surely be found.

The Hornets won’t want this to drag on for long, though.
