Report: Brighton have no plans to “hijack transfer” for star after new exit twist

Leeds United transfer news as Brighton have no interest in move for Tyler Adams despite links – Ben Jacobs

Brighton are not planning a move for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams after Chelsea rejected the chance to sign him to prioritise a move for Moises Caicedo, according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs.

According to Jacobs, taking to his personal Twitter account (11 August), Brighton have no interest in Adams and aren’t planning a move for him this summer.

Leeds United

The Secret Scout, the online news outlet which has been verified by Fabrizio Romano in the past, writing on their official Twitter account (11 August), suggested that the Seagulls could yet sign the USMNT skipper amid Moises Caicedo’s exit.

The Athletic journalist Phil Hay reported on 11 August, Adams was already in London to complete his Stamford Bridge move but is now due to travel back to West Yorkshire ahead of the weekend, which may have given room for Brighton to swoop in.

And Jacobs wrote, in response to those links: “It’s also understood that Brighton are not planning on moving for Adams despite a few links.”

Leeds stay possible

After Adams’ Chelsea move fell through in order for them to prioritise a move for Caicedo, the next best bet for the American international would have been to join the Seagulls, and what a great move that could have been for him.

However, Jacobs has since poured cold water on those remarks which means Adams’ immediate future is now uncertain making a possible Elland Road stay very likely this summer.

It remains to be seen which Premier League club will look to trigger that £20m release clause but Adams has been linked with several English top-flight sides this summer, including Nottingham Forest, Everton, Arsenal and Newcastle United so any one of them could feel the £20m fee is very tempting.

But how delighted Daniel Farke will be if he manages to keep Adams until January at least.

It’s clear, the Whites desperately need some quality and experience in the middle of the park for which Adams is the perfect tonic but the Championship is certainly not his level and he deserves another shot at the English top-flight.

But the question now remains, which Premier League club will look to trigger his release clause? With every passing day that Adams remains a Leeds United player, an exit increasingly looks uncertain.
