Lewis Miller says Hibs are ready to bounce back against Motherwell after St Mirren loss

Lewis Miller says Hibs are ready to bounce back in the Premiership after their win over Luzern.

Lee Johnson’s men went down to St Mirren at Easter Road in the opening weekend of the season in a five-goal thriller with Alex Grieve netting in the 89th minute for the Buddies. The Hibees had recovered from going two goals down thanks to goals from Adam Le Fondre and Christian Doidge but left empty handed on matchday one.

The capital club put in a stunning display under the lights in Leith on Thursday night in the Europa Conference League as they defeated Swiss outfit Luzern 3-1. The winner of the tie next week advances to the play-off round to face English Premier League outfit Aston Villa – but all focus is on Motherwell this weekend and getting three points on the board. Miller insists the Hibes are in the right frame of mind and ready to go out for the victory.

Speaking to Hibs TV, he explained: “With the players we have and the experience we have in the team, like Paul [Hanlon] and Stevo [Lewis Stevenson], and especially Joe [Newell] as well, they can get us in the right headspace and the right mind frame.

“Our pure focus is for this Sunday against Motherwell. It was unfortunate last week, but I think we’re ready to bounce back in the league with a win.

“You always want to go out there and get three points. We had a bit of a rocky start but coming off that game [Luzern], against great opposition, we’re in the right mind frame and I think we’re ready to go and get a win for the fans and for ourselves, individually.”

He added: “They’re going to be physical; I’m assuming they’re going to be quite direct as well.

“They’ve made a few new signings and I think the competition in this league is just going to improve and improve, so we’re going to have to adapt to them, do some video analysis, and I think we’ll always be ready for whoever we play against.”
