Everton transfer news as Manchester United ready to include players in deal to sign Amadou Onana
Manchester United have held talks with Everton to sign midfielder Amadou Onana and are willing to offer a player incentive in order to seal the deal, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the UK outlet (14 August), United are “eager” to strengthen in midfield but would consider including players as part of a deal for the Belgian.
Sky Sports journalist Alan Myers reported on Monday 14 August that Everton want around £60m if they allow their star midfielder to depart, but the Champions League club deem that too expensive and are willing to offer players as part of any deal.
Despite talks between the two parties, it is believed that no offers have been made by Manchester United as of yet.
Could consider player exchange
The Belgian maestro has been an instant hit since his £33m move, showcasing his irresistible and dominant talents from midfield in just his first season in England, and his qualities may warrant a bigger platform than Everton before long.
And it’s easy to see why the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and now Manchester United have been linked with his services. His current ability, unique qualities in midfield and stark potential certainly make him an attractive and leading name in a market where several of Europe’s elite are on the hunt for young and exciting midfield prospects – Onana is definitely one of them.
With United desperately on the prowl for midfield reinforcements after the departure of Fred, the Onana interest is of no surprise given his burgeoning qualities and potential suitability to Erik ten Hag’s high-intensity and proactive style.
£60m is a decent price demand from the Toffees and it’s unlikely they’ll accept anything lower than that, but should the Red Devils offer some attractive players in exchange, it won’t be a surprise to see Everton consider the offer.
The Blues are showing real intent in the transfer market right now, after completing deals for Arnaut Danjuma, Youssef Chermiti and Jack Harrison and such ambition is absolutely crucial in also looking to keep a number of their star players including Onana and Alex Iwobi.
The club’s financial situation has been made abundantly clear hence their £60m stance but we feel Everton must deem the Belgian not for sale at any price, for this summer at least.
