Wolves are set to receive interest in one of their stars ahead of the end of the summer transfer window.

It has been a strange summer for the Midlands club, who saw Julen Lopetegui walk away from his role due to disagreements with the board. Wolves have been slow on the transfer front, losing Ruben Neves, Nathan Collins, Conor Coady and Raul Jimenez, while incomings have been limited to four players, and only Boubacar Traore and Matheus Cunha are the only players to have arrived on fees.

Wolves fans will be desperate to see more incomings, as will new boss Gary O’Neill, but there could yet be another key outgoing ahead of the deadline.

Daniel Podence is said to be attracting interest with just one year left on his current contract, with Scottish giants Celtic said to be considering a move. Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph tweeted: “Celtic are keen on Wolves winger Daniel Podence. He has one year left on his contract & wasn’t included in the squad last night. Wolves want around £12m, but it’s understood Celtic see room for negotiation, if they make an approach.”

Podence has been with Wolves since 2020 after his arrival from Olympiacos, and he has gone on to score 12 goals in 91 league appearances since then. Though, after missing out on the matchday squad for the clash with Manchester United, it doesn’t look as though Podence has a future at Molineux, and Wolves will prefer to get a fee for him this summer rather than losing him for free this time next year.

Whether Wolves can get the money they want for the winger is another question. The Midlands club paid just shy of £17million for Podence, and he is still only 27 years of age. He is a one-time Portugal international.
