Wolves could take advantage of midfielder Josh Browhnill’s contract situation at Burnley as they look for value for money in the transfer market, according to a report.

Midfielder Brownhill, aged 27, is in the final 12 months of his contract at Turf Moor. There is speculation he could move on before the end of the transfer window, with Wolves named as one of the clubs interested.

Brownhill cost £9m from Bristol City in January 2020 and has since made 120 league appearances for the Clarets, including 41 league starts last season to help Vincent Kompany’s side win the Championship title.

TEAMtalk reports Wolves are interested, saying: “Wolves have a long-standing interest and new boss Gary O’Neil is looking closely at Brownhill as he looks to bolster his squad with some fresh faces.”

The report also says Crystal Palace, Everton, Leeds, Leicester and Middlesbrough would be keen if the midfielder is available.

Brownhill was in the Manchester United academy and also played for his local club Warrington Town before getting his break in the Football League with Preston North End. He spent three years there and had a loan at Barnsley before a 2016 move to Bristol City where he would play more than 150 games over the next four years.

Wolves have made around £90m from player sales this summer and could raise move if Daniel Podence moves on. The versatile forward is rated at around £12m and is reportedly being monitored by Celtic.
