Burnley ‘stand out’ in race for €25m-rated winger – Kompany ‘would love to’ sign player for Clarets
Mike Trésor starred for Genk last season, managing eight goals and 24 assists from 42 games. This has seen him attract interest from several clubs, including Burnley.
Back in June, Voetbalkrant reported Vincent Kompany wants the winger at Turf Moor. Fast forward to August and today’s Het Belang van Limburg has a report on the Clarets’ interest in the star.
It’s claimed the 24-year-old has received interest from several Premier League sides, but only Burnley are mentioned.
The report adds the Clarets ‘stand out’ in the race to sign the Belgium international.
Kompany seems to be leading the chase and had been a fan of the player for a long time. In fact, HBVL state the manager ‘would love to’ have the attacker at his disposal at Burnley.
It won’t be easy for Burnley to sign Trésor because of the competition from other Premier League sides and his €25m asking price. The newspaper suggests the English club may not be willing to pay this fee.
Apart from Burnley, earlier claims from the Belgian press had stated Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham United as the clubs interested in securing the player’s services.

Reports have emerged in recent weeks that the likes of West Ham and Wolves could potentially be interested in a summer swoop for the 27-year-old.
Crystal Palace, Everton, Leeds United, Leicester City and Middlesbrough have also been attributed with interest.
Brownhill played a huge part of Burnley’s Championship title win last season, captaining the side for much of the campaign and making 48 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven times.
He started on the bench for the Premier League opener against Manchester City, however, and only came on in the 89th minute.
When asked what lies in store for Brownhill’s future, Kompany appeared to rule out a departure ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.
“There’s no talk about Browny’s future,” he said emphatically.
“The level in the squad has improved and everybody is hungry to compete. Knowing him he’s rolling up his sleeves and going for it.”
Brownhill made the move to Turf Moor from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee in January 2020.
The midfielder penned a four-and-a-half year deal at the time, with the contract also including an option to extend by 12 months.
Nevertheless, supporters will be keen to see the club tie Brownhill down to a longer contract to follow in the footsteps of his fellow midfielder Josh Cullen, who recently agreed a new three-year deal.
Manuel Benson and Anass Zaroury, meanwhile, have also been handed new contracts following the club’s promotion to the Premier League.
