Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson ‘turns down an approach from Charlton’ after the Addicks sacked Dean Holden

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson has turned down an approach from Charlton after the League One side sacked Dean Holden.
Sky Sports reported that Charlton had asked Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony for permission to speak to Ferguson.

MacAnthony confirmed the approach, but revealed that Ferguson had declined the opportunity to enter talks with the Addicks. -
‘I have an agreement with Darren that I would tell him about any approach respectfully and he can then decide if he wants to talk to club,’ MacAnthony said, as reported by Peterborough Telegraph.
‘Thankfully he declined and fair play to him as he loves our project.’

Dean Holden was sacked as Charlton manager on Sunday following four successive defeats
Ferguson signed a three-year deal in May to continue as Peterborough manager after leading the club into the play-offs last season.
Both Ferguson and MacAnthony agreed that the club would focus on developing younger players as part of their project.
Ferguson is currently in his fourth stint as manager of Peterborough, having previously led the club to promotion on four ocassions.
He also oversaw their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy success in 2014.
Peterborough are currently 10th in League One after winning three and losing two of their opening five matches this season.
Charlton’s approach came after the club sacked Holden on Sunday.
Holden was dismissed following Charlton’s 2-1 defeat to Oxford on Saturday.
The result was Charlton’s fourth successive league defeat, leaving them 19th in League One.
