Kvistgaarden to Celtic transfer agreement ‘very close’
Mathias Kvistgaarden is reportedly ready to complete a transfer move to Celtic.
Celtic have been heavily linked with a transfer swoop for the 21-year-old Brondy striker.
And Tutto Mercato claims an agreement between the two clubs is “very close”.
It’s thought Celtic will have to pay a fee in the region of £4m to land Kvistgaarden as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his attacking options.
Earlier speculation had claimed a transfer bid had been knocked back by the Danish club.
However, it’s now thought negotiations are nearing a positive conclusion with the player keen to make the switch to Parkhead.
Kvistgaarden is under contract at Brondby until 2027 and previously scored six goals and provided six assists in nine matches in the Danish championship.
Asked about Kvistgaarden’s position at Brondby and the interest from Celtic, director of football Carsten Jensen told TV3 last week: “Basically, it has not been part of the plan.
“We are still in the process of transfers. It’s both relation to ins and outs.
“We still need to adjust the number of players in the squad, even though we are getting to where we want to be.
“It’s definitely getting closer to what we want to have in our squad. Then we have our eyes and ears open in relation to a few more positions.”
On whether he is hopeful of further signings before the end of the window, Rodgers said: “Hopefully. I think it’s clear… I have said before we have improved the squad with some of the players we have brought in, but we have lost starters. So we need to improve the team.
“And it’s always a challenge coming off the back of a season where you have won the treble.
“You have got to go again the following season where there is a greater expectation on you and more pressure.”

Karamoko Dembele in post Celtic transfer as ex-wonderkid set for English League One loan
The winger has struggled to impact the Brest first-team since leaving Parkhead
Karamoko Dembele is set to join Blackpool on a season-long loan from Brest before the transfer window closes.
Football Scotland understands the 20-year-old former Celtic winger is poised to undergo a medical at Bloomfield Road as he gets ready to join up with his new teammates in England’s League One. Dembele has managed 16 sub appearances for Brest since he left Parkhead for Ligue 1 and he put in a cameo shift against Marseille earlier this season.
He has been unable to establish himself as a starter so far but will be hoping he can do so with Blackpool for the rest of the campaign.
Dembele scored just once for the Hoops before he left the club and that goal came in a home clash with St Johnstone back in May 2021. There were such high hopes for the young winger who is eligible to play for Scotland, England or the Ivory Coast.
Blackpool hope to have the deal tied up this week before they take on Wigan on Saturday. It won’t be done in time for this evening’s EFL Cup tie away to Wolves.
