Nottingham Forest 34-year-old now spotted back in training after knee injury
Nottingham Forest star Felipe could be set for a return to action as he tries to recover from a knee problem. The Brazilian has not played so far during the 2023/24 campaign and missed the pre-season campaign.
Felipe proved an amazing January signing for the Reds at the midway point of the 2022/23 season. He made 16 appearances and led Forest to the required number of points to ensure they remained as a Premier League club.
At 34-years-old, Felipe is obviously a short-term signing for Forest. He will be out of contract in the summer and perhaps the incoming addition of Murillo is viewed by the club as his long-term replacement.
Forest face Burnley in the Carabao Cup tomorrow night. Now, ahead of that clash, the player with two caps for Brazil could be edging closer to a return to action and that would be most welcomed for the Reds.
Felipe struck up a handy partnership at Forest with Moussa Niakhate during the second half of last season. The Senegalese player returned to action in March and together the pair helped Forest remain in the Premier League.
The Reds have conceded at least once in every game they’ve played during the current season. As a result, Forest definitely need to improve defensively and having Felipe back would certainly help the team in that sense.
Forest star Felipe is spotted in senior training
The player was called ‘sensational’ by Stephen Warnock on BBC Sport last season. The praise came as the Reds defeated Southampton 4-3 to edge themselves closer to safety from relegation.
Felipe is a quality player and Forest head coach Steve Cooper will desperately hope to get him back on the pitch soon. Despite his advancing years, the Reds will be hoping that he can make a difference to the defensive unit this season.
The player has been spotted in training with his teammates ahead of tomorrow’s clash. With the international break on the horizon, perhaps he won’t be risked for the cup game but it’s definitely positive to see him back on the mend.
