Journalist: £3m Leeds man lined up for late move by four Championship clubs, including Middlesbrough

Leeds United news as Sam Greenwood makes admission over Jesse Marsch's tactics - Leeds Live

Leeds United playmaker Sam Greenwood is the subject of interest from four Championship clubs such as Middlesbrough and Stoke City ahead of Friday’s deadline, according to Mail reporter Tom Collomose.

Greenwood, 21, is struggling to break into our midfield under Daniel Farke this season despite a lack of options in that area. On Tuesday night, Archie Gray and Ethan Ampadu started over the midfield player.

In the 10 role, it seems Joe Gelhardt – his best mate – is preferred. With Nadiem Amiri a target, it is clear Leeds are also trying to sign a new attacking midfielder. Greenwood is firmly down the pecking order.

With three days remaining in the transfer window and Leeds hard at work to bring in a few more faces, after Djed Spence was confirmed, £3m Greenwood is set to go. The race is hotting up, four clubs keen.

Preston, Swansea and Stoke are three of the four – as are Middlesbrough, who are likely to lead the race for Greenwood. The midfielder is from the North East, starting out at Sunderland before joining Arsenal.

Leeds United reject SIX offers for teenager Sam Greenwood

As stated, Michael Carrick and Boro will surely be on top of the pile for Greenwood – without looking at which club has what players and how Greenwood would slot in. Swansea certainly play the right style.

The connection between Leeds and Swansea will be fresh given the signing of Joel Piroe. Preston is a solid move, but their hopes of promotion are probably not as high as Stoke, Middlesbrough or Swansea.

Greenwood’s move away from Leeds may also depend on the Whites bringing in a new attacking no.10. While that is in the works, with Werder Bremen’s Ilia Gruev linked, nothing has yet materialised.
