George Evans has joined the club from Millwall

Wrexham AFC have announced the signing of George Evans from Millwall. The 28-year-old Cheadle-born utility player came through the ranks at Manchester City before going on to play regular football for the likes of Reading, Derby County and most recently Millwall.

Evans has also represented England at under-17 and under-19 level. He arrives at the Racecourse for an undisclosed fee and has signed a deal which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2025.

The signing was one that came totally out of the blue for most – with no previous speculation surrounding the signing whatsoever. North Wales Live understands that the signing will be the first of possibly several bits of transfer business for the Dragons in what is expected to be a busy day at the Racecourse.

Evans could go straight into the squad to face Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park tomorrow afternoon (12.30pm kick-off).

Speaking to North Wales Live, Evans said: “I’m delighted to be here, it’s a really exciting project and one I’m very much looking forward to. This club is definitely going in the right direction and it’s something I was desperate to be a part of.”

When asked what Dragons fans can expect from him on the field, Evans said: “I like to get on the ball, break between the lines and play passes from deep. I’ve met all the lads and I know James Jones and Anthony Forde from previous clubs so I’m just really excited to get going now.”
