Nottingham Forest were rejected by ‘unbelievable’ Chelsea star this summer

Chelsea make major transfer decision that impacts possible £50m Trevoh Chalobah deal| All Football

Nottingham Forest tried to sign Chelsea talent Trevoh Chalobah on three occasions during the summer transfer window. The player decided to reject the move, despite a £25 million bid being accepted by the Blues.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds were on track to complete the signing of the player. After a move to Bayern Munich collapsed, however, the Chelsea man decided to stay at Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old is desperate to play regular football. He’s a product of the academy ranks at Stamford Bridge and has made 63 appearances for the Blues.

When he scored on the opening day of the 2021/22 campaign, Rio Ferdinand raved about

him. He called him ‘unbelievable’ and also loved his performance in the Super Cup that year.

Regular action hasn’t been forthcoming though. He’s been way down the pecking order in recent seasons and Mauricio Pochettino arriving at the club hasn’t helped his cause for game time.

Chalobah wasn’t involved as the Reds beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday. Now, he does back himself to get in the Blues team this season.

At 24, the player has bags of time on his side. Indeed, he fits the profile of a player who Steve Cooper would like to work with.

Chalobah might be keen to sign for Forest in the future. However, for now, he’s facing another season on the fringes of a Chelsea team bankrolled with a billion pounds worth of talent.

The Blues have been very busy this summer. Forest now need to focus on their season ahead and it does feel likely that Chalobah will remain on the radar of the Reds’ recruitment team
