Spurs announce another centre-back has left the club on a permanent deal

DONE DEAL: Maksim Paskotsi completes transfer to Grasshoppers - Cartilage Free Captain

Tottenham Hotspur’s activity in the transfer market is not over yet, as the club has today confirmed the departure of Maksim Paskotsi. The youngster has now joined Grasshopper Club Zurich on a permanent transfer.

Paskotsi joined the Tottenham youth setup back in 2020 after turning out for FC Flora Tallinn back in his native Estonia. He has previously trained with both the youth sides for Kalev and SK Everest.

The defender has made one appearance for the Tottenham senior team, though only for three minutes (Transfermarkt). Paskotsi was a regular for the Spurs development squad and U18 side, but never quite managed to break into the first-team squad.

While he may not have had his breakthrough at club level, Paskotsi does have 18 caps to his name for Estonia, having made his debut at the age of 18 (Transfermarkt).

Paskotsi leaves Spurs on a permanent deal

Now, Paskotsi will get his chance to play regular football, after it was announced the 20-year-old is leaving Spurs to join Grasshopper Club Zurich in Switzerland.

The announcement wishes Paskotsi well for the future and details the player’s previous involvement with the club. There is no information regarding whether a fee was involved in the switch.

Paskotsi was likely behind both new signing Ashley Phillips and Alfie Dorrington when it came to the pathway to the Spurs first team under Ange Postecoglou.

With international aspirations on the line, it is thought the youngster has opted to find more regular first-team football with his new club.

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite his brief involvement with the first team, it was unlikely Maksim Paskotsi was ever going to go on to become a regular starter for Spurs and so this move makes sense for everyone. Hopefully, he can perform well in Switzerland and push on with his career at both club and national level.

Sergio Reguilon has sent a message of support to Tanguy Ndombele as the pair escape Tottenham Hotspur on loan.

The transfer deadline passed on Friday in England, but clubs can still offload players to countries where the window remains open.

Turkey is one such country and Tottenham have sent not one but two players there.

Galatasaray have pounced with a double deal, taking midfielder Ndombele on loan and signing Davinson Sanchez permanently.

Neither player seemed to be in the plans under Ange Postecoglou and have now moved on for first-team action in Turkey.

Ndombele completed his move on Monday having not even been a part of Ange Postecoglou’s Premier League matchday squads.

The Frenchman is desperately seeking to get his career back on track in Turkey and will hope to shine for Galatasaray.

Ndombele has taken to Instagram to celebrate his move, posting a photo of himself in a Galatasaray shirt for the first time.

The post read ‘Cim bom bom’, part of a chant from the Galatasaray fanbase as Ndombele looks to make an early impression.

Former Tottenham teammate Sergio Reguilon was in the comments to reply, simply calling the Frenchman ‘Ndomballer’, a name Spurs fans used to use but one which probably hasn’t been heard for a while now.

Reguilon has joined Ndombele in leaving Tottenham on loan over recent days.

The Spanish left back returned to Tottenham this summer after a rather disappointing loan spell with Atletico Madrid.

Postecoglou had no plans for Reguilon either and Tottenham were happy to send him on loan to Manchester United.

The Red Devils wanted a left back on loan at least until January, with United having a break clause which could see Reguilon return to Tottenham.

We would be stunned if Reguilon or Ndombele ever played for Tottenham again, but they really need to make these loan moves count after some difficult years.
