‘I’m very lucky’: 26-year-old admits he just loves being a Nottingham Forest player
Joe Worrall has spoken about his love and pride in playing for his boyhood club Nottingham Forest.
The 26-year-old club captain has been at the Reds since he was 14, going on to make 202 first-team appearances and counting.
Speaking on TalkSPORT this week, the central defender was full of praise for owner Evangelos Marinakis, admitting that the “sky is the limit” under his ownership.
Marinakis recently claimed that he is taking Forest back to being a “dominant force” in the Premier League, a statement that surprisingly received support from Simon Jordan.
Joe Worrall on loving his time at Nottingham Forest
Throughout his talkSPORT interview, Worrall was full of praise for Marinakis and the work he’s done to improve his club.
“But now, the way that the owner’s so ambitious and speaks so highly of the manager and the football club, he really understands the identity that the city has and the people connected with the club. Why not? The sky is the limit.
“He’s had unbelievable success with Olympiacos over the seasons. He’s been in charge there and especially with Forest so far, every single year that he’s been in charge has been a steady graduation of improvement and of togetherness for the city.
“It’s such a good time to be a Forest fan, and especially I’m very lucky to be to be a player.”
The 26-year-old’s good form on the pitch is set to see him rewarded with a new long-term contract at the City Ground, with Worrall himself confirming that a new deal is close to being finalised.

Simon Jordan backs Evangelos Marinakis’ Forest plans
Speaking on talkSPORT breakfast, Jordan spoke in depth about Marinakis but did say he’s backing up his promises by supporting boss Steve Cooper throughout the last couple of years.
“Marinakis hasn’t said what he will win and when he will win it. He’s said we will be a dominant force in English football.
“I have no reason to disbelieve him because he’s backed everything he’s done previously.
“The reality is Nottingham Forest are in the Premier League, he spent a king’s ransom on footballers last year.
“What he said after the play-off was an emotional reaction, to the euphoria of achieving something that Nottingham Forest fans waited for the best part of a quarter of a century for.
“What he’s saying now is not in the heat of emotion and what he actually wants to impart and not what his emotions think he should.
“There is a bottom line behind having an ambition and you have to back it up. It’s safe to say he’s done that.”
