The latest Nottingham Forest news as the goalkeeper has been an unused substitute in every game so far this season.

While the transfer window in England may be closed, there are still windows open in other parts of the world, meaning players who are looking for moves still can get them.

That could be the case for Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath. The American has been an unused substitute for all of Forest’s matches so far this season, behind summer signing Matt Turner.

The 28-year-old found himself behind the same player again on international duty on Saturday as the USA came out as 3-0 winners over Uzbekistan. He could be given his chance this week, after Turner got permission from the national team to leave international duty to be with his partner as they welcome their second child.

Horvath spent last season on loan with Luton Town as he helped the side to earn promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. Despite him being a big part of the penalty shootout winning team, the Hatters decided against making the loan move permanent this summer.

After a difficult year, young USMNT goalkeeper Ethan Horvath is ready for his next chance

The departure of loanees Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas had left a space in the squad open for Horvath, but he could now find himself out of the picture altogether. Forest completed the signing of Greek international Odysseas Vlachodimos on deadline day, and he is expected to compete with Turner for the No. 1 shirt.

It leaves Horvath in a difficult situation, with the choice of clubs reducing since the closure of the British transfer window, unless he leaves as a free agent. According to the Athletic , the goalkeeper could still depart the club in the ‘coming days’, there is however no suggestion as to where he could go.

The most high-profile transfer window that remains open is in Turkey, if a move to the European country is on the cards is still to be seen. Horvath has just one year remaining on his deal at the City Ground, meaning that should Forest get any fee, it will be reduced due to his contract situation.
