Celtic name Champions League squad as 3 new signings don’t make cut
Celtic have confirmed their Champions League squad with the group stage fixtures set to get underway next week.
Brendan Rodgers has named his 25-man strong squad and with homegrown rules in place, he has had some difficult decisions to make.
New signings Gustaf Lagerbielke, Nat Phillips and Luis Palma have all made the cut, but Marco Tillo and Maik Nawrocki miss out.

Ange Postecoglou has shared that he ‘keeps saying to everyone’ that Celtic should be ‘top’ of the bucket list of clubs you want to be involved with.
The Greek-born Australian headed for the Celtic exit doors this summer and joined Tottenham after winning the Treble in fine style, including introducing some stellar names to the club, such as goalscoring machine, Kyogo Furuhashi.
When Ange Postecoglou first joined the Glasgow giants, Rangers had just won the Scottish Premiership title under Steven Gerrard and the Bhoys were in a world of mess, both on and off the field.
And, at first, whilst Postecoglou needed time, once he got to grips with things, it was nothing but pure success on the domestic stage and he described it as a ‘magical time’, as he told talkSPORT (12/09/23 at 11:45 am).
When Celtic turned to Postecoglou to replace Neil Lennon, there was a lot of ‘who is this guy?’ from the media, even from the Celtic-supporting side.
But once that 25-point winning margin Rangers held from the season before was wiped out, the tune of those doubters quickly changed, but Postecoglou didn’t stop there because he took things to even higher heights last season, as he had a message for the fans today.
It was a magical time for me,” said Postecoglou. “I have gone from managing one of the most famous football clubs in the world to now one of the biggest.
“I am living the dream. My two years at Celtic. I don’t need to tell people that. That will stay with me forever, mainly because of the supporters. It was a magical couple of years.
“I keep saying to everyone. If you have a bucket list of clubs you want to be involved in, then Celtic will be right at the top of that list.”
A Celtic legend going right to the top
If Celtic had the money Premier League teams get to spend on a yearly basis, then Postecoglou would still be in the Parkhead dugout.
So, whilst it was disappointing that he left, it was understandable given the lure of the English Premier League.
But the Celtic legend has written his name into the history books, and now on the Premier League stage, this is just the early days of a career that will just continue to blossom in these coming years.
