Reo Hatate set for Celtic injury return as Cameron Carter Vickers hands Hoops major boost
Brendan Rodgers has delivered some positive injury news ahead of this weekend’s clash with Dundee
eltic have been handed a major injury boost after Brendan Rodgers revealed Reo Hatate and Nat Phillips could be involved against Dundee this weekend.
Japanese midfielder Hatate has been out of action since picking up an injury in last month’s 3-1 win at Pittodrie, while new signing Phillips wasn’t deemed fit enough to feature against Rangers. However, Rodgers has confirmed the duo are now in full training as the Hoops begin to clear out their packed treatment room.
The Parkhead boss told Celtic TV: “We’ve got Reo Hatate now back training with the squad which is great news. His energy has been really good, he’s worked really hard since he picked up that injury against Aberdeen. I’m really pleased he’s back, he’s a top midfield player and his mind is focused on playing in the team and doing very well, so he’s back. Nat Phillips is training with the squad so hopefully be available for the weekend.”
Meanwhile Rodgers says Cameron Carter-Vickers could return to the fold as early as next month as he recovers from a hamstring injury. The USA international has been included in Celtic’s Champions League squad and is on course to feature on matchday three when Atletico Madrid visit Parkhead.
Marco Tilio – who missed out on European inclusion – is also nearing a long-awaited debut as he works his way back to full fitness.
“Cameron Carter-Vickers is a little bit away, he’ll probably be more early October before he’s back but he’s out on the grass and working well.
“Marco Tilio is back in with the squad, back training, it will take him a little bit of time to get up to speed. Some of the other boys are a little bit further behind. The squad is looking healthier and as we go forward, hopefully the return of a few more of these players will be really good for us.”
