NOTTINGHAM FOREST’S HARRY TOFFOLO GIVEN FINE AND SUSPENDED FIVE-MONTH BAN AFTER ADMITTING TO 375 BETTING OFFENCES
Harry Toffolo has been fined and given a suspended five-month ban from football after admitting to breaching FA betting rules. The Nottingham Forest defender made 375 offences in a three-year period between 2014 and 2017 and has been fined almost £21,000. Toffolo is yet to feature for Forest this season, but made 21 appearances for the club last season after joining from Huddersfield.
Nottingham Forest’s Harry Toffolo has been handed a suspended five-month ban by the Football Association after admitting to breaching betting rules 375 times.
A statement from English football’s governing body said that the punishment has been suspended to the end of the 2024/25 season.
“Nottingham Forest’s Harry Toffolo has been given a five-month suspension, which has been suspended until the end of the 2024-25 season, and £20,956.22 fine for misconduct in relation to our betting rules,” the statement said.
“The defender admitted that he breached FA Rule E1(b) 375 times between January 22, 2014, and March 18, 2017, and an Independent Regulatory Commission imposed his sanctions following a hearing.
“The Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for these decisions will be published in due course.”
The 28-year-old joined Forest from Huddersfield Town in 2022 following their promotion to the Premier League.
He made 21 appearances in all competitions last season but is yet to feature in the 2023/24 campaign.
He has been included in Forest’s 25-man finalised Premier League squad, which was confirmed on Wednesday.
In May, Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney was banned from football for eight months after admitting to 232 betting breaches.
