Rocco Vata Celtic transfer exit latest as 'former Hoops boss tracks youngster' as he enters final year of contract | The Scottish Sun

The hype around Celtic youngster Rocco Vata is continuing to grow.

The 18-year-old is yet to feature competitively for Celtic this season, after getting some opportunities at the tail end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Despite that, he has worked his way through the various international youth levels and made his debut for Republic of Ireland’s under-21s on Tuesday night.

As we covered on the website, the Irish media were raving about Vata after he netted two goals during his side’s 3-0 qualifying victory over San Marino. Reading some of the words used it was hard not to get pretty excited about the young talent Celtic may have at their disposal.

The hype continued on Wednesday but it may not be quite as good news for Celtic as other clubs begin to circle the attacker who is out of contract next summer.

The Daily Record report that a scout from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig was in Cork for the match to cast an eye over Vata.

They say that clubs have been alerted to the attacker due to his contract situation. He could reportedly move cross-border for around £350,000 in training compensation next summer. That would definitely be a sore one for us given his undoubted potential.

Celtic did turn down a six-figure bid from Nottingham Forest in the final days of the summer window, and the club are said to be keen to tie him down to a new, long-term contract. Vata is also reportedly now being viewed as a central forward rather than a winger.

With him able to speak to other clubs in a matter of months, finding a solution seems like a bit of a priority.
