Reo Hatate in Celtic new deal ‘talks’ as Japanese star could follow Liel Abada after transfer window ‘request’
The Japanese star could follow Liel Abada in extending his Parkhead stay beyond 2026.
Reo Hatate is said to be ‘in talks’ with Celtic over a new deal at the Scottish champions.
It comes as the Japanese star is due to make his return to action after being injured for the champions at Pittodrie last month. Hatate was on the shortlist for Brendan Rodgers to get fresh terms penned after Liel Abada followed suit, committing his future to Parkhead before he suffered a knock. The midfielder did have transfer interest in the summer but the Hoops kept a hold of their star man who is still under contract until 2026.
Now the Mail Online report talks are open for the 25-year-old who the Hoops wanted to pen new terms at the same time as Abada when he signed up earlier this month. The report claims Hatate ‘asked’ for talks to be placed on hold due to lingering interest in his services during the window. Clubs in Saudi Arabia and France were linked with the former Kawasaki Frontale man’s services.
Record Sport revealed last month that the Parkhead powerbrokers wanted to offer the pair improved terms after their fine form in green and white.
