It has been reported that negotiations between Reo Hatate and Celtic are now well advanced.

The Daily Mail has reported that negotiations have begun on a new contract for Hatate, following a tumultuous transfer window. During the window, speculation suggested that Hatate had requested a postponement of talks amid interest from both Saudi Arabia and France, however, Hatate has remained at Parkhead and the talks have now begun. Hatate is currently contracted until 2026, however, it is understood that Celtic chiefs are eager to extend his stay, as they have recently secured new contracts for four of their players, including Hatate.

Celtic midfielder Hatate is expected to make a return to action after sustaining a calf injury against Dundee earlier this month. Hatate had been out of action since sustaining the injury against Aberdeen.

Rodgers has confirmed that the player will be available to play before Tuesday, though whether or not he starts will depend on the circumstances. The summer has been a difficult one for the player, but Rodgers believes they have moved past it.
