Nat Phillips sends message to fans on Instagram after Celtic debut, Virgil van Dijk reacts
Nat Phillips has stated on Instagram that he is ‘delighted’ to have made his Celtic debut after the 3-0 win over Dundee on Saturday at Parkhead.
That message from Celtic’s new boy, on-loan from Liverpool, drew a response from Bhoys favourite and Anfield star Virgil van Dijk.
The recently appointed Liverpool captain responded to Nat Phillips’ message on Instagram by posting the four-leaf clover emoji in the comments section of his post.
Of course, the Dutchman still fondly remembers his time at Celtic and how the Glasgow giants helped him down a journey that saw him become one of the world’s best.
Phillips will be hoping to sprinkle some of that magic onto his game because, albeit on a short-term loan, he has come in with big expectations.
So far, it’s thumbs up, with Brendan Rodgers offering an update on why he was subbed off at half-time against Dundee.
Nat Phillips’ message to fans
“Delighted to have made my @celticfc debut and proud of the boys for getting the job done,” said Phillips. “Onto the next.”
Nat Phillips and Liam Scales
It’s interesting that Rodgers opted to start Phillips next to Liam Scales against Dundee and not summer signing Gustaf Lagerbielke.
Of course, Phillips is still warming up his engine because he only played 45 minutes, but it will be interesting to see what road Rodgers goes down ahead of the Feyenoord trip in the Champions League.
Suppose it is indeed Scales and Phillips next to each other until the likes of Cameron Carter Vickers return/until January.
In that case, it’s deserved from the young Irishman because, amid all the pressure, he has faired very well.
