Ex-Celtic star Mohamed Elyounoussi breaks silence on chances of sensational Parkhead return with Brendan Rodgers | The Scottish Sun

MOHAMED ELYOUNOUSSI is still searching for his next club after leaving Southampton this summer.

The former Celtic winger spent five years at St Mary’s following a £16million move from Basel in 2018.

Elyounoussi, 28, decided to leave Southampton at the end of last season after their 20th-placed finish in the Premier League sealed their relegation fate.

The Norwegian international is now looking for his next move and has been linked with several clubs since leaving the Saints.

Celta Vigo were reportedly keeping tabs on the winger and held talks with him but they have since cooled their interest.

The La Liga side were looking for a left-sided midfielder and signed out-of-contract Lille winger Jonathan Bamba instead this week.

Elyounoussi was claimed to have been on Fenerbahce’s list of targets too as he was identified alongside current Celtic star Liel Abada as backup options should they fail to land Wilfried Zaha.

However, the Istanbul outfit confirmed the signing of Ivory Coast international tonight.

The former Basel and Molde playmaker could still be on his way to the Turkish capital this summer though as it’s suggested that he’s closing in on a move to Fenerbahce’s rivals Besiktas.

The Black Eagles have been admirers of the Norwegian star for the past few years and are now set to finally land their long-term target, according to Eshahaber.

The report suggests the player and his agent have held positive discussions with the Super Lig club and have made their intentions clear.

It’s claimed that Elyounoussi has demanded a salary of around £30,000 per week and Besiktas are willing to pay it.

Meanwhile, Jack Hendry is closing in on a £6.5million switch to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq.

The former Celtic centre-back has been identified as a priority target for Steven Gerrard this summer and the ex-Rangers boss wants to get deals over the line in the coming days.

Hendry is now poised to join Moussa Dembele and Jordan Henderson in the Middle East.
