Celtic injury news as two players return and the treatment room begins to clear.
Celtic’s squad has been ravaged by injuries pretty much since the campaign started.
The Hoops have been left decimated at times, especially last month, with a number of key stars and new signings out for the long term. But as the weeks progress, the Parkhead treatment room is gradually beginning to clear in what will be music to the ears of boss Brendan Rodgers.
Nat Phillips
The Liverpool man was signed on loan to ease the defensive injury crisis at Parkhead – before suffering a knock on his debut. Phillips rolled his ankle against Dundee and was subbed off at half-time, ruling him out of subsequent games against Feyenoord and Livingston. The 26-year-old’s injury is not believed to be serious.
Carter-Vickers
Carter-Vickers is expected to return to full training by the start of next month and should be available for selection again come mid-October. CCV suffered a hamstring tear in August’s 3-1 win at Pittodrie but Rodgers has confirmed his star man has been recovering well.
Maik Nawrocki
The £4million Polish defender is another who suffered a nightmare hamstring injury and it cost him a place in the Champions League squad. The former Legia Warsaw star has made just three appearances for the Hoops and isn’t due back until around November.
Stephen Welsh
Academy graduate Welsh pledged his future to his boyhood heroes by penning a long-term deal – before suffering ankle ligament damage on the same day. Welsh, 23, had no option but to undergo surgery and will remain sidelined for the next month at least.
