Breaking: Nottingham Forest confirm forward transfer - Nottinghamshire Live

Star Xande Silva was fired by West Ham and Nottingham Forest but is quietly reviving his MLS career.

Hopes were high for Portuguese striker Xande Silva when he joined West Ham from Vitoria Guimaraes in 2018.

Those hopes were ultimately not realized as he made just two appearances for the Hammers before being sold to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2021 for £200,000.

At the time, David Moyes received criticism from sections of West Ham fans for letting a potentially out-of-bounds striker join Nottingham Forest.

Every cloud has a Silva lining…

But Silva appeared to prove Moyes right as he struggled to make an impact at Forest, making just 10 appearances – eight of them in the league – and failing to score a single goal. Nottingham Forest sold former West Ham striker Silva to French club Dijon last summer and he fared slightly better, making 32 appearances and scoring six goals.

West Ham and Nottingham Forest fans may be interested to know Silva has scored twice and laid on two assists in five games.

But it is his all round performances that have impressed. He looks fit, strong, powerful and focused.

It’s great to see the former Hammers and Forest striker starting to fulfill his potential

And in Atlanta’s 4-1 win over Montreal last time out, Silva was man of the match scoring 9/10 after scoring and providing an assist.

This is not to say that West Ham or Nottingham Forest necessarily made a mistake in letting Silva go.

Each player takes a different path on their own personal journey.

His time at West Ham was hampered when he had to undergo emergency stomach surgery.

So after the health problems he endured at the London Stadium, it’s great that the striker is finally starting to realize the potential the Hammers – then Forest – gave him. that from the beginning.
