Celtic: “Excellent” Hoops player signs new deal
When it comes to contract renewals, Parkhead has had a busy few months.
Celtic have been busy signing new players in recent months, and another has signed new Parkhead terms in the last 48 hours.
Who has signed a new contract with the Celtics?
The Hoops have made a strong start to life under new manager Brendan Rodgers in the Scottish Premiership, currently sitting atop the table after dropping only two points in their first six games. With a number of new faces brought in over the summer, there have been disappointments in the Scottish League Cup and the inaugural Champions League group game.
Celtic signed ten players in the recent transfer window, eight on permanent contracts and two on loan. In recent months, the club has also extended the contracts of key players such as Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, Callum McGregor, and Liel Abada, and another player has followed suit.
On Tuesday, the club announced that full-back Anthony Ralston has signed a new four-year contract extension.
Rodgers was likewise ecstatic at the news, saying:
“I couldn’t be happier for Anthony. When I initially arrived, he was a young player who showed a lot of promise.
“He came in and played some good games, and obviously he really kicked on when Ange came in and had that early spell where he played a lot, and you could see him grow from that.”
“So I’m overjoyed for myself and the squad.” He’s a Celtic player who came up through the system here, and I believe that having individuals like that in your squad always brings out the best in them.
“When I spoke with him a little while ago, he was so eager to commit.”
Anthony Ralston’s age?
Ralston is a Celtic academy graduate who has spent the entirety of his career at Parkhead. He can also play slightly farther forward as a right midfielder if needed.
Although he spent time on loan with Queen’s Park, Dundee United, and St Johnstone, the Scotland international has already made 90 professional appearances for the Hoops in all competitions.
The defender is now 24 years old, so you’d think he still has plenty of time left in Glasgow to add to the nine major titles he has won at Celtic Park.
Ralston began the season as the first choice and has been regarded as a “excellent” player who “has it all” by journalist Josh
